![]() At least with Nolan’s adaptation in replacing Blackfire with mercenary Bane, it’s a little easier to believe. ( 2011 - Present) Joseph Blackfire Appearances Images Quotes Deacon Blackfire is a sociopathic but influential cultist operating in Gotham City. How exactly does this work? Kind of took me out of the story a little. Deacon Blackfire was a con-man and cult leader and over 100 years old at the time of his death, despite appearing much younger. The majority of Batman’s adversaries are somewhat based in reality (outside of Ra’s Al Ghul) and the character of Deacon Blackfire is seemingly immortal, achieving so by bathing in human blood. My only real problem with the story was the villain. Gone were the days of Batman and Robin chasing The Joker over a giant piano, replaced by full panels of brutal violence and a general feelings of hopelessness for the citizens of Gotham. Released around the same time as Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke, The Cult mirrors their dark storytelling and subject matter. ![]() Replace Deacon Blackfire with Bane, make a few alterations and you’ve got the third act in Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It wasn’t until I was a few dozen pages into the story that I realized Christopher Nolan had used this as the basis for The Dark Knight Rises. Other than a high listing, I knew very little. Are Blackfire’s intentions pure or does he have a hidden agenda?įor the last few years, I’ve been trying to make my way through IGN’s 25 Greatest Batman graphic novels list. However, what good is a group of vigilantes if The Batman is still patrolling the streets? Blackfire captures The Dark Knight and by using a method of brainwashing, convinces The Caped Crusader that he is truly Gotham’s savoir. Gathering the homeless and the distressed, Blackfire amasses an army to obliterate crime from the streets of Gotham. Overall I'd just love to see Telltale's take on the character as religious villains are often very interesting.A mysterious figure by the name of Deacon Blackfire has a plan for Gotham City. ![]() When the members of the cult notice Batman has awoken, they tell him the story of Blackfire once again and how he is supposed to be the mythical godly. He proves to be a bigger threat for even Jim Gordon and brings Gotham to heel. Batman has been tied down and held prisoner for many days by lowlifes and homeless people, all of whom serve the mysterious man called Deacon Blackfire, the self-appointed leader of the cult. Blackfire returns once again, somehow having regained her powers. Arguing that criminals in Gotham are never really punished or stopped only to be free by "inhuman lawyers" and out in public to cause more harm. His motives and his charisma make him believableīlackfire is able to charm Gotham's poor to stand up against the system and take justice into their own hands. History She first appears in All-New Batman: The Brave and the Bold 9, she appears as one of the villians defeated by Hawkgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Big Barda. Where as Blackfire is (in my opinion) the most underrated villain in the series.ģ. Blackfire is the evil sister of Starfire. Blackfire - Komandr - Batman (MXB) CONSTANT Whenever a Battle Card is attached to a Character during the Planning Step, you may play a /Villain/ Character. I don't think he'll be an antagonist and even if he isn't many other villains such as the Riddler have bad their time to shine and the recognition they deserve. The first princess born in over a hundred years, she should have been courted and showered with honors. ![]() Komand'r was born the eldest child of Tamaran's royal family. Blackfire Komand'r (also known as Blackfire, the English translation of her Tamaranean name), is the elder sister of the Teen Titan Starfire. Telltale did the right thing by making Joker and uncertain all (kinda?) Instead of an antagonist. Koriand'r, how many times must you be reminded to slay your enemy- Not pity them. This would be an interesting thing for players to take on as we hardly see Batman mentally broken the way Blackfire seems to do it He even succeeds in making Batman break his Golden rule. While Bane and other adversaries of his have outmatched the Bat physically such as Bane and Deathstroke, Blackfire is the only villain to my memory to have completely broken Batman (via torture and preaching) to mentally and use him to bend him to his twisted philosophy and force him to adopt his ideals. I think Telltale should have the cult be his friends. ![]() I played Episode 1 of The Enigma yesterday and noticed Riddler mentions his "friends" whom he leaves ambiguous. ![]()
